Hringekjan in collaboration with seamStress (Isabelle Bailey) has a collaborative project called Hringekjan Endurskapað, where we will, in collaboration with designers, strive to fully utilize the textiles that we receive in the sales process and, in collaboration with designers, produce high-quality environmentally friendly products.
Earlier this year, Arna Lísa and Isabelle Bailey joined our team. Arna is a fashion designer from Parsons The New School of Design in New York, specializing in designing with recycled materials in mind, and she will be leading the project Hringekjan Endurskapað.
The first designer - Isabelle Bailey
Isabelle Bailey is the first designer within this new project "Hringekjan Endurskapað" - she is an employee of Hringekjan and has studied sewing. She focuses on designing and sewing clothing from used textiles that would otherwise end up in a container; such as old clothes or fabric scraps of various kinds.
The collaboration is based on taking the clothing and accessories that accumulate in the store and creating wearable works of art from them (Wearable Art).
Let's take further action against textile waste
Her participation is the first step in this project that we are very excited to continue - but the goal is for this to become a permanent part of our operations in the coming times. With this step, we will be able to reach even further into the cycle and further combat textile waste while also contributing to the creation of value from otherwise unused raw materials with talented Icelandic designers.
